Dr Matthew Gutman is a Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon with a specific interest in brain mapping for brain tumours and epilepsy, spinal disorders as well as neurovascular surgery.
Dr Gutman currently serves as the lead for Epilepsy Surgery at The Alfred Hospital. He has undertaken further sub-specialized training around the world in flexible endoscopy, functional neurosurgery, neurovascular surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery.
In 2024 Dr Gutman developed the first laser interstitial therapy (LITT) program in Victoria after being awarded The Dr Lena McEwan and Dame Joyce Daws Churchill fellowship to develop advanced neuromodulation and lesioning techniques for epilepsy and brain tumour surgery.
