Dr Matthew Gutman is a consultant Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon.
After completing his fellowship in neurosurgery Matthew undertook fellowships in flexible endoscopy and hydrocephalus in Mbale, Uganda before moving to the United Kingdom, to gain further training in functional neurosurgery at The National hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen’s Square) and Cambridge University Hospital (Addenbrooke’s) to refine his skills in neurovascular surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery.
Matthew practices all aspects of neurosurgery and spine surgery with a specific interest in brain mapping for brain tumour and epilepsy surgery, spinal disorders and neurovascular surgery.
Matthew’s public hospital appointments are at the Alfred and Austin Hospitals, and he operated privately trough Cabrini Hospital.
Outside work Matthew enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching the footy, Water sports, Skiing and Hiking.
After receiving a medical degree with honours through Monash University, he completed basic physicians training before embarking on a career in neurosurgery through the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
